The ‘Buy With Confidence’ conference held on 9th October 2009 was
a resounding success.  A key result was agreement that in order for the scheme to become truly national – all businesses (including national retailers) should be able to participate. I am pleased to report that
further to my work with the London Borough of Redbridge, Shital
Bhaloo, Consumer Protection Lawyer from Marks & Spencer, was in attendance as a speaker. The ‘Buy With Confidence’ scheme has
been highlighted on BBC One’s Watchdog as being the place to go when looking for reputable traders.

Cancellation Rights - The Cancellation of Contracts made in a Consumer’s Home or Place of Work Regulations 2008 is now in force.  Unless an emergency call out, any work over £35 affords the customer cancellation rights of up to 7 days unless a waiver form has been signed. Customers must be given written cancellation rights before commencement of any work.
